Best Care For Oily Hair

Oily hair is commonly found in teens and it will quickly destroy the hairstyle. If you have dry hair you tend to envy those with oily hair to a certain extent. But, there are those of us that want to get some relief from our oily hair. Oily hair has its own special needs and here are some good tips.

1. Hair washing. If your hair is fine and straight, and you have an oily scalp, your hair will soon become oily too. It might be a good idea to wash your hair almost every day. If you have really oily hair, it isn't crazy to wash your hair every day. Letting the lather remain in your hair for a few minutes before you wash out might be a good idea. When washing your hair be sure that all traces of shampoo and conditioner are thoroughly rinsed out.

Think about using a normal-to-mild shampoo instead of using shampoos that promise no oil. If your hair and scalp are inherently oily, then trying to dry them out by cleaning constantly with a harsh shampoo might cause the situation to get worse; the human body has a way of attempting to re-establish equilibrium, and will take its sebum emission into high gear, which will result in even more oily hair!

2. Should I use conditioner? If your hair tends to be oily a conditioner is not necessary. Long hair requires conditioning right down to the end in order for it to remain healthy. Hair conditioning products should not be applied to the roots. If you want to reduce the amount of hair that is conditioned it is not a good idea to use a shampoo-conditioner combo on oily hair.

3. Let's talk about hormones. Those in their teens tend to have hair that is oilier as the scalp condition is much more sebaceous than later on in life. It generates the greasy sebum. Hormones affect all teens but usually a teen with straight hair will have more challenges with oily hair then a teen that has curls. Some prescription drugs that we take may affect our hormonal level which can also affect the amount of oil that is in our hair.

4. Your nutrition. Proper nutrition is key to the health of your hair and in keeping it from drying out. The more greasy food we eat the more it can affect our face and scalp; it encourages oil secretion. Try to eat right by consuming vegetables and fruit and eliminate some of the oil and fat in your diet. It's far better that you drink water rather than alcohol. OK so I sound like your mother'but her motive was to make your hair more vibrant and have more body so please keep that in mind.

5. Your fingers have oil on them, don't touch your hair. Think about your daily grooming routine. Do you brush or use your hands to brush your hair a lot? Excessive brushing and combing tends to make your hair oilier. Brushing your hair from the roots to the tips pushes the sebum all along the hair, while constant touching will further weigh down the hair with filthy oil from your hands. You need to stop twirling your hair!
